It is thought that the Rodonyà Castle was already built
in 1214, but it is not until 1310 that we have the first written
reference to it. The event that the document registered was the
buy" of Vilabella and the manor to Bernat de Centelles by Guillem
de Rocabertí, who was the Archbishop of Tarragona.
In 1409, the castle became an ownership of the Señores
de Tamarit.
In 1721, a detachment of Mossos d'Escuadra got installed there.
This detachment, together with the one that was in Selva del Camp,
were the latest that got disappeared.
The last Señores of the Rodonyà Barony, were the
Vilallongas, who were also "Señores" of Estaràs.
In 1868 they sold the castle and all their belongings. At the end
of the last century, the castle was bought by a neighbour of Rodonyà,
and some years later, it became an ownership of the Town Council.

Rodonyà celebrates its Fiesta Mayor de Invierno (the Winter
Feast) in January, on the Saturday and Sunday that come after the
Day of San Sebastián. They are in the honour of this Saint.
The Fiesta Mayor de Verano (the Summer Feast) is celebrated in
August, on the Saturday and Sunday that come after San Juan Degollado.
In this feast, it is typical to prepare the "pa beneït".
Every two years, there is a Literature competition.

In the middle of the village, we find the Parish Church. It is
made in honour of San Juan Bautista. It was built in the third
quarter of the 18th.century, and its style is the Neoclassical.
The floor of the belfry is squared, and it ends up with an octagonal
tower.

One of the most important building of Rodonyà is the Castle. Nowadays,
there are some parts that have been conserved, as some of the four walls. These
walls are completed by embattlements, and have a voussoired door. Inside the
castle, we can see some walls and arches. Outside the castle, there is a piece
of wall and the door that drives you to the entrance courtyard. In the basement,
there are the mines.
